Beginner Class 2 Description

Vinyl Sessions Beginner Course 2 seeks to give students further insight on the multi-faceted vinyl record.  This course will be a continuation of vinyl sessions 1.  Students will continue to become familiarized with the various components of the vinyl record, identification of sound equipment, music selection and will culminate with the creation of their own vinyl DJ set.  This class will correspondingly expand on student’s knowledge of sound equipment identification, installation and integration into the performance of vinyl DJ set.

Biography

Rodriga Rockmore is a grassroots, fronteriza vinyl DJ and music selector on the border of El Paso, Texas, USA and Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. She has been a vinyl music DJ since 2004, playing music that celebrates border life in both English and Spanish, as well as in Spanglish. She has conducted various workshops where she introduces a new wide variety of audiences to music in a vinyl format. She has participated in community music events such as Chalk the Block, Cumbia Forever, Trolley Tracks, and also taken part in global live streams such as Raiders of the Lost Art, 45 Day, and Analog Days. She is a member of the collectives Uhmanas TV, Adelitas Fronterizas Vinyl Club, and Girls to the Front. You can find her on digital platforms such as Twitch, Mixcloud, Youtube, and Instagram as Rodriga Rockmore.
